Arsenal's Danny Welbeck doubtful to play vs. Southampton due to thigh injury
The injury bug at Arsenal is still hungry.
Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Tuesday that striker Danny Welbeck is doubtful for Thursday's match against Southampton due to a thigh problem.
"I think he will be short for Thursday," Wenger said of the English international.
Welbeck, who scored the winning goal in the Gunners' 2-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday, was removed from the contest after 85 minutes, a sign that he likely tweaked something during the match.
With Olivier Giroud still in the midst of his suspension for a headbutt against QPR last week, Wenger could find himself without both of his first-choice strikers for the trip to St Mary's.
That could result in some of the club's seldom-used attackers seeing increased action on Thursday, with the likes of Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell all in the running for a potential start.
