Swansea City signs Nelson Oliveira on loan from Benfica
Swansea City manager Garry Monk has moved quickly to ensure that he has some cover for Wilfried Bony.
The club announced Tuesday that they have secured the loan signing of Portuguese striker Nelson Oliveira until the end of the season, providing Monk with some insurance for the departure of Bony, who will join up with his Ivorian teammates for the African Cup of Nations in January.
Oliveira, 23, has won 14 international caps, and will join the club at the opening of the transfer window next month. At that point, he will find himself in a battle with Bafetimbi Gomis for the starting role while Bony is away on international duty.
It's a competition the Portuguese attacker is looking forward to.
OLIVEIRA: “I have to earn the right and respect from the manager and my teammates on the training ground to play."
