Angel Di Maria's foot injury not thought to be serious
Deep breath, Manchester United supporters.
The apparent foot injury suffered by midfielder Angel Di Maria during Argentina's friendly match against Portugal on Tuesday is not thought to be serious, with both Argentina manager Tata Martino and the player himself downplaying the severity of the problem.
Di Maria went down and looked to be in some significant pain after a tackle from on-loan United winger Nani, which had supporters worried that their record-signing could be the latest to hit the injury list.
"We don't think it is anything serious," Martino said. "It was quite a tough blow he took. It was a tough knock. It cut the skin a little bit. But we have had a look at it and we are evaluating the situation.
"We are having a look at some X-rays, some images that have been taken but in spite of that we don't think it is too serious."
Di Maria himself didn't seem overly concerned about the severity of the injury.
"It was just a blow. I hope it doesn't swell anymore so I can play at the weekend," he said.
United, who meet Arsenal this weekend, have already lost three players to injury during the international break, with Michael Carrick (groin), David De Gea (finger) and Daley Blind (knee) all felled while away from Old Trafford.
