Rio Ferdinand on 3-match suspension: 'Ludicrous ... and I don't mean the rapper'

Never afraid to wear his heart on his Twitter account, Queens Park Rangers' Rio Ferdinand took to social media Friday to express his dismay at the three-match suspension and 25,000-pound fine he was assigned for using the hashtag #sket.

The Football Association dished out the ban Wednesday, and Queens Park Rangers are still awaiting a written explanation for the sanction before they decide whether to appeal. It's unclear how the FA will go about explaining the ban, as other players have escaped punishment under similar circumstances.

"Sket" is defined as "a promiscuous woman or girl," which seems fairly tame when compared to the variety of other words tossed around by professional footballers and others in the business.

Furthermore, since any appeal wouldn't come before next week, Ferdinand will miss Saturday's West London derby against Premier League leaders Chelsea.

We can only hope Joey Barton responds to the tweet his teammate sent him later on Friday.
