Rooney, who just finished serving a three-match suspension for kicking out at West Ham's Stewart Downing, was seen limping at an event involving club sponsors on Monday, inevitably leading to speculation that he would be unavailable for the Manchester derby.
Having notched 11 goals in previous meetings between United and City, Rooney is the derby's record scorer.
