Manchester City conceded an early goal to Newcastle in Wednesday's Capital One Cup match, and only minutes later things got worse.
Midfielder David Silva was forced to leave the contest after only nine minutes, walking off the pitch gingerly with an apparent knee injury.
He was replaced by Samir Nasri, who himself is making his first appearance in over a month after recovering from a groin problem.
