Report: Xavi Hernandez rejected offers from Bayern Munich, Manchester United
Following a disastrous campaign at the World Cup in which he lost his place in Spain's starting XI, Xavi Hernandez reportedly forewent a move to nascent MLS club New York City FC in order to remain at Barcelona for another season. He turned down the move despite the fact he's no longer a guaranteed starter at Camp Nou.
However, it seems that New York City FC weren't the only club interested in acquiring the 34-year-old midfielder over the summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Pep Guardiola expressed interest in reuniting with Xavi at Bayern Munich, but the former Barca manager's approach was rejected because the Masia product didn't want to join a direct European rival of the Catalan club.
Manchester United apparently also made an approach for Xavi's services, but Louis van Gaal was unable to convince the player to head to Old Trafford.
