Report: Liverpool interested in Victor Valdes, need Premier League permission to sign him
Liverpool will need special permission from the Premier League if they hope to sign goalkeeper Victor Valdes before January.
The Reds are reportedly interested in bringing the goalkeeper to Anfield as competition for current starter Simon Mignolet. Although the transfer window closed earlier this week, such a move is possible because Valdes is a free agent - his contract with former club Barcelona expired in June.
However, ESPN FC reports that any deal would first require the Reds to file an application with the league, because they are attempting to amend the official list of players they submitted on Thursday.
Valdes is on the mend after suffering a torn cruciate anterior ligament in his right knee back in March, and Liverpool is expected to wait until he regains full fitness before making a contract offer.
