Juventus completes signing of Patrice Evra from Manchester United
Patrice Evra's eight-and-a-half year spell at Manchester United has come to an end.
Juventus announced Monday that they have signed the French fullback to a two-year contract after agreeing to pay the Red Devils 1.2 million euros for his services.
Evra, who joined United in 2006 from Monaco and went on to win five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Champions League crown while also assuming the captaincy in recent years, released a message to fans of the Red Devils, thanking them for their support during his spell at the club.
"After a great deal of thought I have decided the time is right for me to leave Manchester United. It is the biggest decision of my career as this club is, and will always remain, in my heart.
"Joining and playing for Manchester United has been a privilege, a dream come true and my time here has been so memorable. Through the good times and the bad times we have all stuck together and remained loyal. I have always said you don’t just join Manchester United, you join the family and long may that tradition continue."
In the 33-year-old, Juventus will get a solid, if no longer spectacular, left-back that will allow manager Massimiliano Allegri to utilize a four-man defense with a natural fullback, something the club was lacking on the left side.
