Ukraine has a new hero.

Super substitute Artem Dovbyk headed home in the 121st minute to secure a dramatic 2-1 win for his country in Tuesday's nail-biting Euro 2020 last-16 tie against Sweden.

Ukraine will now face England in the quarterfinals Saturday in Rome.

The knockout clash - tied 1-1 after regular time - seemed destined for penalties until Oleksandr Zinchenko's pinpoint cross found Dovbyk in the area. The 24-year-old forward, who came on in the 106th minute, sparked scenes of jubilation at Glasgow's Hampden Park with the biggest goal of his career.

Zinchenko gave Ukraine the lead in the 27th minute with a fierce shot from close range that Sweden's goalkeeper, Robin Olsen, couldn't handle. Emil Forsberg equalized in the 43rd minute with his fourth goal of the tournament.

Forsberg hit the post and crossbar as Sweden upped the ante in the second half. However, the Scandinavian side couldn't find a breakthrough.

Sweden's hopes of advancing took a huge hit when defender Marcus Danielson caught substitute Artem Besedin's shin with a dangerous tackle in the 98th minute. Ukraine extinguished them all together with just minutes left before penalties.

Ukraine, coached by the legendary Andriy Shevchenko, reached the quarterfinals of a major tournament for the first time since the 2006 World Cup. It had never advanced past the group stage of a European Championship as an independent nation.
