Ibrahimovic returns to AC Milan

AC Milan are ending the decade the same way they started it: with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line.

Ibrahimovic, who played for the Rossoneri from 2010-12, is back with Milan on a contract until the end of the season, the club confirmed Friday. The deal also includes a one-year option.

"I'm returning to a club that I respect enormously and to a city that I love," the 38-year-old said in a statement. "I will fight with my teammates to change the course of this season and I will do everything to achieve our goals."

Ibrahimovic rejoins Milan on a free transfer after two seasons in Major League Soccer with the LA Galaxy. He announced his departure from the Galaxy in November, when they were eliminated from the playoffs.

He'll reportedly earn €3 million at Milan over the next six months. The one-year option is tied to goals and appearances.

Ibrahimovic scored 42 Serie A goals during his first stint at Milan and helped the club win the Scudetto in 2011. Milan sold Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €20 million, marking the start of a tremendous decline.

Milan are currently in 11th place in Serie A and 14 points behind a Champions League berth. With strikers Krzysztof Piatek and Rafael Leao struggling for form, Milan have managed just 16 goals in 17 matches thus far.
