Report: Zaha will see knee specialist, expected to miss at least 4 weeks
Another footballer is reportedly set to enter Crystal Palace's treatment room.
According to the Guardian's Ed Aarons and Dominic Fifield, Wilfried Zaha is set to see a knee specialist. The winger suffered an injury as the Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, and it's understood he sustained it during the first half but remained on the pitch until the game ended. He was reportedly sent for a scan on Monday and was referred for more treatment, meaning he's expected to miss at least four weeks.
A prolonged absence would mark Zaha's second of the season. He suffered a knee injury as Palace fell 3-0 to Huddersfield Town on the first matchday of the Premier League season and didn't return until October, tallying the winner as the Eagles beat Chelsea 2-1 at Selhurst Park. Until then, they had zero points in the top flight of English football.
Palace will play Everton on Saturday and then enjoy more than two weeks off, returning to the pitch on Feb. 26 when the Eagles host Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park.
