Bayern Munich has renewed its interest in acquiring Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

After abandoning its bid last summer, the German champion is understood to be plotting another move for Sanchez when the January transfer window opens, according to Mark Lovell of ESPN FC.

Sanchez is currently in the final months of his Arsenal contract after refusing to sign a new deal in an apparent effort to engineer a move away.

Manchester City was considered the favourite to land his services near the end of the summer window after Bayern pulled out of the race due to the Gunners' reported £50-million valuation.

In July, president Uli Hoeness revealed that Bayern was looking to the future and that such a fee would only be paid if Sanchez, 28, was younger.

If Bayern is unable to close the deal in January, the Bundesliga outfit will likely join a long queue of teams that will attempt to sign Sanchez on a free transfer after his contract expires at the end of June.

Bayern's renewed interest comes a day after Robert Lewandowski called on the club to find a suitable replacement to fill the void in attack should he go down with an injury.
