In what amounts to one of the summer transfer window's most unlikely moves, Grzegorz Krychowiak is swapping the romance and allure of the French capital for football-mad West Midlands.
The Poland international is off to West Bromwich Albion after his maiden campaign at Paris Saint-Germain proved to be underwhelming, joining the Baggies on a season-long loan.
Tony Pulis' lot announced the move Wednesday with a statement on its website, adding that Krychowiak's temporary switch is subject to international clearance.
Krychowiak took to Twitter to tease the news after a successful medical with the club, and his arrival at the Hawthorns marks a massive coup for the club amid a summer of brilliant buys.
Krychowiak's move was West Brom's second of the day after luring Kieran Gibbs to the club for a modest £7-million fee, joining Oliver Burke, Jay Rodriguez, Gareth Barry, and Ahmed Hegazy as Baggies newcomers.
It's a temporary transfer that also makes plenty of sense for the deep-lying midfielder after his attempt to secure consistent first-team minutes at the Parc des Princes proved difficult despite following former Sevilla tutor Unai Emery to Ligue 1.
"I had a lot of offers from Spain and Italy. But this is a very ambitious club. There's a good atmosphere here," Krychowiak said Wednesday.
