Wayne Rooney couldn't have asked for a better return to Goodison Park.
After agreeing to rejoin Everton following his illustrious time with Manchester United, Rooney returned to his old stomping ground with a bang when he opened the scoring against Stoke City with a beautifully placed header.
His first-half goal, which was his 199th career Premier League tally, was a historic one as Rooney added another Premier League record to his resume:
The goal proved to be the winner as Everton opens the season up with three points ahead of its Europa League playoff encounter with Hajduk Split on Thursday.
Rooney will then lead his club back to the city he called home for 13 years when Everton clashes with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Aug. 21.
