Phil Bardsley's three-year association with Stoke City ended Tuesday with confirmation that the Scottish defender has joined Burnley in a transfer worth £750,000.

The transfer fee could rise to £1.5 million if certain performance-related add-ons are accomplished, Stoke announced.

Bardsley, who put pen to paper on a two-year contract, joins former Stoke City teammate Jonathan Walters as one of the club's four signings this summer. Burnley also completed deals for Jack Cork from Swansea City and Charlie Taylor from Leeds United.

Bardsley previously called Turf Moor home during a loan spell in 2006 while he was a member of Manchester United.

"It's a club that's going in the right direction with a fantastic manager and a great group of players which I'm looking forward to being part of," he said in a statement.

"It's a well-knitted group which did fantastically well last year and hopefully I can bring something to the squad."

The 32-year-old made 64 appearances for Stoke following his transfer from Sunderland in 2014.
