Manolo Gabbiadini is continuing to realise his potential at Southampton.
On Sunday, in the final of the EFL Cup, Gabbiadini brought Southampton level with Manchester United in a matter of minutes. After scoring a deserved goal in the first-half added time, the Italian striker produced an equaliser in the 48th minute, hooking a shot past David De Gea. Had the 25-year-old not had a goal wrongfully disallowed for offside, he would have been celebrating a hat-trick.
Not since 2005 had Southampton seen one of its players score in his first three appearances for the club, and it was the first time in Gabbiadini's career that he scored back-to-braces having tallied two goals at Sunderland.
