Sutton forced to play defender in goal after Wayne Shaw's resignation
The unsavoury repercussions of "Pie-gate" are still being felt.
On Saturday, five days after Wayne Shaw resigned from Sutton United over his pie-eating stunt from the non-league club's FA Cup tie versus Arsenal, Simon Downer, who is a defender, had to pull on a pair of gloves when Paul Doswell's side had to second-choice 'keeper to call upon.

Shaw's resignation was accepted after the Football Association and Gambling Commission confirmed they are investigation the 'keeper for eating a pie on the bench during Sutton's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal. The 46-year-old shot-stopper, who weighs in at 20 stone (280 pounds), admitted to knowing about the 8-1 odds against him eating a pie.
Without a second-choice 'keeper in its first National League fixture since "Pie-gate," Sutton had to turn to Downer at Torquay United's Plainmoor after Ross Worner suffered an injury.
