Karanka hopes to 'convince' PSG reject Jese of Boro switch
Paris Saint-Germain castoff Jese Rodriguez can add Middlesbrough as a possible getaway destination.
The 23-year-old Spaniard is no longer a part of PSG's plans, with club manager Unai Emery making no secret of his willingness to move on his summer signing during the January transfer window.
Roma and Jese's hometown outfit Las Palmas emerged as early contenders for his signature, but neither has acted on their reported interest.
Now Middlesbrough has decided to enter the fray.
Boss Aitor Karanka, who coached Jese during their time at Real Madrid, admitted Thursday he is discussing a potential deal.
"Jese Rodriguez is a player I have worked with and I know how good he is," said Karanka. "His next move is important and I hope we can convince him."
Boro is in talks to sign the winger on a loan basis, reports the BBC's Steve Crossman. The Premier League club, according to Crossman, has the necessary funds to cover his "significant" wages.
Jese's adventure in the French capital has not been one to remember. Arriving for £21 million last summer, he has only managed to start one Ligue 1 match so far. His last appearance came Dec. 14 in a Coupe de la Ligue fixture against Lille.

PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi branded Jese's signing a "mistake," which all but assured the end of that marriage.
One man's rubbish is another's treasure, and in direct competition with Cristhian Stuani and Adama Traore, Jese could get many more minutes at the Riverside.
The possible departure of wantaway attacker Gaston Ramirez could also vacate a spot on the wing.
Karanka confirmed Ramirez has submitted a transfer request, although he will not allow the Uruguay international to walk away on the cheap.
"No one player is more important than the team, but the offer has to be right for the club before a player will leave," Karanka said.
Leicester City is reportedly interested.
