Alderweireld's hamstring issue not believed to be serious
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has provided some reassuring news on that status of Toby Alderweireld, who was forced out of Saturday's 2-2 draw against Manchester City with an apparent hamstring problem.
The Belgian hobbled off the pitch in the 64th minute, seemingly compounding a growing injury problem in the heart of Spurs' defence; Jan Vertonghen is already sidelined, expected to miss six weeks with an ankle concern.
But the Argentine bench boss said after the contest that Alderweireld's ailment doesn't seem overly serious.
"I believe it's not a big issue," he said. "We will know better in a few days, but it doesn't look too bad."
Alderweireld, the lynchpin for one of England's stingiest units, will presumably undergo a scan in the coming days to learn the severity of the problem.
