Rooney back in training following thigh injury
Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney returned to training ahead of the Red Devils' FA cup clash with Reading at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The 31-year old talisman missed the last three matches - wins against Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and West Ham - with a thigh problem suffered on the training ground on Christmas Day.
Before his injury, the ex-England captain had started in two consecutive wins against Crystal Palace and West Brom last month.
The Croxteth native must be chomping at the bit to get his name on the score sheet, as Rooney remains one goal short of matching Sir Bobby Charlton's club record for total goals scored at 249.
Rooney has not found the back of the onion bag since the end of November when he scored against Feyenoord in Europa League action; his last league goal was back in August against Bournemouth.
Rooney's return comes at a perfect time for manager Jose Mourinho, as United faces a busy schedule during which it plays Reading, Hull City, and Liverpool in the span of eight days.
