Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph has made a boastful claim about new manager Pep Guardiola that will only boost the Catalan's legend.

"The first three weeks have been amazing. I've learned more than I have throughout my whole career," Delph admitted, courtesy of BBC Sport.

The England international has played under Martin O'Neill, Paul Lambert, and Manuel Pellegrini, though with less than a month under Guardiola's wing, Delph admits that the former Bayern Munich boss is in a league of his own.

"It is a big statement but it is the truth."

Having dominated both domestically and on the continent with Barcelona before winning three Bundesliga titles on the bounce with the Bavarians, Guardiola has built a reputation for being one of the game's best.

Delph appears to have a good understanding of why that is.

"It is the way he simplifies things. His way of playing. The way he sees things. You will see what he is trying to do in the forthcoming games," Delph explained.

With three weeks to go until the 2016-17 Premier League campaign kicks off, Delph has been training in defence, and while it's doubtful that he will transform into the next Javier Mascherano, versatility is key to Guardiola's tutelage.

"The manager has a lot of different systems and it is all about learning different positions," Delph added.

"I am on a big learning curve. If that can keep going I would be very happy. I don't think I will be a centre-back but you will be pleasantly surprised."
