Report: Dortmund demands €40 million for United target Mkhitaryan
Clubs interested in luring Henrik Mkhitaryan away from Borussia Dortmund this summer will have to pay a steep price for the Armenian international.
After reportedly rejecting an offer from the player's "dream club," Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund has put a €40-million price tag on Mkhitaryan, according to various German news agencies. The club originally stated it had no intention to sell him.
That fee almost doubles the €24 million that United reportedly tabled for the 27-year-old before Dortmund rejected the bid.
German outlet Bild reports that United has yet to submit a second offer.
A decision regarding his future will likely have to be made quickly considering Mkhitaryan is entering the final year of his contract. That puts Dortmund in a position where the player could leave for free next summer if the situation isn't sorted out before the end of the summer transfer window.
