Slated for a move away from Anfield, Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel is reportedly poised for a transfer to Fenerbahce amid interest from other Turkish league sides.

The Istanbul giant is close to signing the 31-year-old despite the competition, sources told Sky Sports.

Skrtel inked a three-year extension with the Merseysiders just last summer, but a potential transfer has been on the cards for some time.

Having fallen out of favour with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp - made apparent by the German's tendency to start Kolo Toure over the close-cropped Slovak - Skrtel's seemed to have one foot out the door.

The club already released Toure this summer, but Skrtel's made only four starts since the new year, and Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho are likely to be Klopp's first-choice pairing next season.

Skrtel, currently away at Euros in France with Slovakia, joined the Reds in 2008 following a £6.4-million move from Zenit St Petersburg.

Runner-up to Istanbul rival Besiktas last season, Fenerbahce will enter the Champions League qualifying stage in the third round.
