Klopp 'satisfied' with Sturridge after Liverpool's win over Bournemouth
Daniel Sturridge appears to have finally overcome a spate of niggling injuries - and at the perfect time.
The Liverpool striker nodded in what would stand as the deciding goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over Bournemouth, and his performance brought the superlatives out of manager Jurgen Klopp.
"I'm really satisfied. Daniel Sturridge, what a striker," Klopp told BBC Sport after the match. "He was involved in the last five, six, seven goals for us, with the last pass or with the last move.
"He becomes fitter and fitter."
It was the first time in two years Sturridge started in four Premier League games in a row, marking a return to full fitness after struggling with knee, ankle, and hamstring injuries earlier this season.
He came off the bench to help Liverpool realize a miracle in Thursday's Europa League quarter-final tie against Borussia Dortmund. Although he wasn't credited with an assist, it was his pass that set up the play before teammate Dejan Lovren scored the winner.
England manager Roy Hodgson spent the day watching unbelievable scenes unfold at Leicester City, but he will no doubt be tracking the progress of Sturridge. The 26-year-old last started a competitive match for the Three Lions during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
At the very least, he is back on track at Liverpool. The Reds, who have a game in hand, are now just nine points behind the fourth and final Champions League berth.
