Jack Wilshere moves 'step closer' to Arsenal return after U-21 appearance
Jack Wilshere edged close to making his season debut after appearing in Arsenal's under-21 match Friday.
The English international said his 65 minutes with the youth squad boosted his confidence about making a return to the first team, as well as a possible place in Roy Hodgson's squad ahead of the European Championship this summer in France.

"I felt good. It is nice to be back at Emirates Stadium and play my first game. I know that I'm not there yet, not quite ready to play in the first team but it is another step closer to my fitness," Wilshere told the team's website.
"I have said before I want to go to the Euros and I know that I have to get back into the Arsenal team. I have to persuade the England manager and Arsene Wenger that I should play."
With time running out to prove he deserves of a spot on the English national team, Wilshere's involvement over the next six matches may not matter if Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is unfit to play after damaging ligaments in his knee.
Wilshere has not suited up for Arsenal since fracturing his left leg last August.
He was also joined by midfielder Tomas Rosicky during Friday's match against Newcastle United's under-21 side. Rosicky, who made his return from a long layoff with a thigh injury, set up Arsenal's second goal during its 3-1 victory.
