Report: Arsenal reach agreement in principle to sign Zinchenko from City
Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, reports The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Zinchenko agreed to personal terms on a four-year contract with the Gunners after City accepted an offer for the versatile Ukrainian. Arsenal are reportedly set to pay an initial £30-million fee to the Premier League champions plus another £2 million in achievable add-ons.
Barring any last-minute hitches, Zinchenko will leave City's preseason camp for Mikel Arteta's side. He would become Arsenal's fifth summer signing after Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Gabriel Jesus, the latter of whom also joined from City.
The 25-year-old has mostly played at left-back under Pep Guardiola, so he's a potential upgrade for Nuno Tavares, who has largely underwhelmed as Kieran Tierney's competition for that position. Zinchenko was better known as a winger or playmaker before he joined City from FC Ufa for around €2 million in 2016, and he regularly operates in central midfield for Ukraine.
Zinchenko's imminent transfer to north London has intensified City's interest in Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella. Brighton & Hove Albion will soon receive an opening bid from the Mancunian club, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
