Arsenal's pursuit of Gabriel Jesus could be in jeopardy.

The Gunners may be forced to consider other attacking options this summer after being notified by Manchester City that it'll cost £55 million to sign the Brazilian striker, sources told James Olley of ESPN.

Jesus' agent, Marcelo Pettinati, revealed earlier in May that his client was intrigued by the possibility of joining the north London club, adding that Arsenal were one of numerous clubs to inquire about the 25-year-old.

But after discussions between the Premier League rivals, Arsenal are understood to be unwilling to match City's valuation for a player who has one year left on his contract.

The reported price tag is based on City's admiration for Jesus, as well as their desire to recoup a large portion of the €60 million they've committed to signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer, Olley adds.

If City stand firm on their valuation, Arsenal could focus on other forward targets such as outgoing Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala.

Arsenal have been in touch with Dybala's representatives to inquire about his contract demands, Olley reports.

Ultimately, Arsenal will wait until the season is over before making a final decision. What European competition the Gunners qualify for will likely influence which players they target.

Mikel Arteta's men are attempting to secure a Champions League berth on the final day of the Premier League season. However, Arsenal are in danger of missing out on the top four after losing their last two games, leaving them two points behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
