Southampton have knocked back Tottenham Hotspur's inquiry about the availability of Danny Ings, according to The Guardian's Ben Fisher.

Spurs reportedly haven't made an official bid for Ings, who finished one strike behind 23-goal man Jamie Vardy in the race for the 2019-20 Premier League's Golden Boot. Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is apparently keen to add to his attacking options, with Harry Kane his only out-and-out striker.

Mourinho is also a fan of towering Eintracht Frankfurt frontman Bas Dost, and the sticking point over that transfer is Spurs preferring a loan deal, while the German club wants a permanent switch.

It's understood that Tottenham were keeping tabs on Callum Wilson, who moved to Newcastle United for around £20 million last week, and recently relegated Watford have offered them Troy Deeney.

Tottenham have been making progress in other transfer pursuits. Former Spurs attacker Gareth Bale and left-back Sergio Reguilon are reportedly set to arrive in London on Friday to complete medicals ahead of their respective switches from Real Madrid. Bale is expected to join on a season-long loan and be paid his full £600,000-a-week salary, while Reguilon will reportedly cost €30 million.
