Tottenham Hotspur confirmed Monday that Heung-min Son will start mandatory military service in his native South Korea later in April.
Son flew back to South Korea at the end of March and is currently in quarantine, the club adds.
The 27-year-old was granted a special exemption from his homeland's mandatory 21-month military service for males under 28 when he led his country to a gold medal at the Asian Games in 2018, but he's still required to complete a four-week assignment, according to the Independent's Alex Pattle.
Son had surgery in South Korea for a broken arm suffered during a win against Aston Villa on Feb. 16 but returned to England at the end of February before the Premier League suspended play due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The top-tier of English football has since confirmed it will not return at the start of May as initially hoped and that scheduled fixtures will only resume once it's deemed "safe and appropriate to do so."
