Danny Drinkwater is on the move again.

The Chelsea midfielder joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday. He spent the first half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Burnley, where he played only twice across all competitions.

Drinkwater's ill-fated spell with Burnley will be largely remembered for when he injured his ankle in a nightclub brawl in Manchester. His two appearances for the club were losses to Sunderland in the League Cup and to Manchester City in the Premier League.

"Danny was a key member of Leicester City's title-winning team and has represented England so he is a vastly experienced player," Villa manager Dean Smith said.

"He will strengthen our squad significantly."

Aston Villa are now unable to strike loan deals for other Chelsea players, such as Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi, due to Premier League rules on temporary deals between its members.
