Sergio Aguero fired a treble in Sunday's 6-1 bashing of Huddersfield Town to move joint-second in Premier League hat-tricks.

Manchester City's all-time top scorer opened his account this season with a 25th-minute lob of stranded goalkeeper Ben Hamer. He then added a poacher's effort and an audacious flick before he was withdrawn with less than 15 minutes remaining.

He is now level with former Liverpool, Leeds United, and Manchester City striker Robbie Fowler with nine hat-tricks, and two shy of Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer's total of 11.

Jon-Gorenc Stankovic netted on a rare start for Huddersfield, but by then City were 3-0 up after Aguero scored either side of Gabriel Jesus profiting from Benjamin Mendy's bustling work from wing-back. David Silva converted his first direct free-kick in the top flight before Aguero nabbed his third, and Terence Kongolo was unfortunate to divert the ball into his own net after substitute Leroy Sane made inroads down the left.

Manchester City have taken a full complement of points from their opening two fixtures, and face Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Fulham, Cardiff City, and Brighton & Hove Albion in the coming weeks.
