Everton are reportedly close to making their third signing of the Marco Silva era.

Brazilian international Bernard is off to Goodison Park pending a medical and the receipt of a work permit, according to The Guardian's Andy Hunter.

The 25-year-old became available on a free transfer after his terms with Shakhtar Donetsk lapsed in July.

Bernard will make the switch to the Premier League following five seasons with the Ukrainian giant, with Everton set to beat Tottenham, West Ham, Chelsea, and AC Milan for his services.

According to reports, interested parties balked at Bernard's £200,000-a-week wage demands. Both Everton and West Ham renewed their ambitions when the player's financial requirements were lessened.

The winger can expect to compete with Yannick Bolasie and Richarlison for a spot in the starting XI. The latter joined the Toffees in July for a fee reportedly worth up to £50 million.

England youth international star Ademola Lookman appears to be the odd man out after a successful half-season loan in Germany with RB Leipzig.

Everton are expected to complete the deal Tuesday, with the departures of Wayne Rooney and Davy Klaassen helping the Toffees bankroll the Brazilian's wages.
