Pep Guardiola was voted by his contemporaries as the standout manager throughout English football in the 2017-18 season during Tuesday's 26th LMA Annual Awards Dinner.

The Manchester City tactician beat Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, Burnley's Sean Dyche, Wolverhampton Wanderers' Nuno Espirito Santo, Cardiff City's Neil Warnock, and Accrington Stanley's John Coleman to the LMA Manager of the Year prize.

Guardiola was also chosen for the Premier League-specific award.

Under the Spaniard's tutelage, Manchester City dominated the top flight despite there being a host of big-name managers challenging for England's summit. The club set numerous Premier League records in the 2017-18 term, including the most points (100), goals (106), consecutive wins (18), points ahead of second place (19), and biggest goal difference (plus-79).

Guardiola dedicated his individual achievement to the legendary former manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, who is recovering after suffering a brain haemorrhage on May 5.

"I want to share this (award) with all the other managers and I hope Sir Alex will be here to share it with us," Guardiola said in his acceptance speech, as reported by The Mirror's John Cross.

"We achieved records and success that we'll remember for the rest of our lives."

Santo and Coleman picked up gongs for their respective leagues, while Shrewsbury Town's Paul Hurst was selected as League One Manager of Year after leading a popular pick for relegation to May 27's play-off final. The FA Women's Super League 1 Manager of the Year was Emma Hayes, who guided Chelsea to a domestic double.
