The search for Arsene Wenger's replacement at Arsenal will surely be a talking point until its resolution, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes the Gunners don't need to look too far to find an adequate option.

Guardiola pipped New York City FC head coach Patrick Vieira for the job of succeeding Wenger at the Emirates, with the former Arsenal midfielder already being linked to the job alongside other options like Luis Enrique, Brendan Rodgers, and Joachim Low. Asked by reporters if Vieira can be considered a top-flight manager, the Catalan tactician offered: "Of course, he already is."

Guardiola added, as quoted by PA Sport: "Now, with what happened (at Arsenal), there is a lot of names there. Arsenal is going to take the best decision for them.

"But, of course, (Vieira) is ready. I think all the names that are going to start to go - this name or this name or the other one - all of them, they are ready."

While Vieira has enjoyed success in the Big Apple, the Frenchman hasn't managed in the Premier League before, a factor that might cause some trepidation from the Arsenal board.

But even if he does have their faith, Vieira doesn't necessarily desire a switch.

"I spent nine years at Arsenal which makes the club really special for me," Vieira offered, when asked about reports linking him to the new vacancy. "But that is not enough to coach the team. I am always flattered to hear my name linked. That is good for your ego, but at the same time, I am happy here."
