Tottenham striker Harry Kane might be facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up a twisted ankle in his side's 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday, with manager Mauricio Pochettino confirming his top scorer will be evaluated in the coming days.

Kane looked to have rolled his ankle during a challenge with Cherries 'keeper Asmir Begovic, with concern that the injury occurred to the same ankle that he had previously injured last season.

Speaking after the match, Pochettino confirmed that Kane was feeling "positive" about the issue, though he did not yet know the extent of the injury.

"Harry has a great character and is always positive," Pochettino said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. "He's happy with the victory for the team, disappointed of course with his problem.

"But now if you are positive then you start the recovery from the injury now."

When asked how bad the issue looked, Pochettino suggested the team would wait until tomorrow before providing an opinion.

"After tomorrow he will have a scan in his ankle. Of course he suffered an injury that is in the same ankle as he suffered before," he added.

"But I hope and we hope it's not a massive issue. We need to wait until tomorrow."

The 24-year-old has suffered a few injuries to his right foot, picking up his first ligament injury in September 2016 and his second in March 2017. He missed a total of 14 combined matches in those two sideline spells.

Kane has missed just two matches this season with injury when he picked up a hamstring strain in October 2017 that ruled him out for about a week.

With 35 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, Pochettino will hope his striker doesn't face too much time away from the field due to this latest setback.
