Borussia Dortmund prodigy Christian Pulisic's meteoric rise could climb another rung when the United States Men's National Team kicks off its Copa American Centenario run next week.

While most teenage summer plans include some combination of sun and fun, Pulisic's offseason could involve starting in an attacking role for the U.S. when it hosts Colombia next Friday in Santa Clara, CA.

"Everybody's in contention," Klinsmann conceded after Wednesday's tune-up victory over Ecuador.

"It's nice to see a youngster like Christian having no fear, having confidence."

Pulisic, 17, was named to Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man roster on Saturday, nabbing a kit number to match his age. He's more than a bystander cutting his teeth with the senior team - the attacking midfielder has the skill set meriting selection in the starting XI.

"It's also a confidence given by his teammates. He can make mistakes but he also has that change of pace. He has the technique. He's not overthinking the situation."

On the heels of nine second-half appearances with Bundesliga bridesmaid Dortmund with four starts and two goals, Pulisic has come on as a sub in both matches for Klinsmann's lot, including a 30-minute spell against Ecuador.

Primed to become a mainstay on the international scene, Pulisic is humble in conceding that he'll assume whichever role Klinsmann deems fit.

"That's what I'm pushing for," Pulisic admitted. "We have 23 very strong players. Of course everyone wants to start. That's the goal, but I just want to be successful with the team. Whether that's starting or that's coming off the bench that's fine by me."
