Report: Brazil's Fred failed doping test at Copa America
Reuters
Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred might be in a spot of trouble after reportedly failing a doping test during the Copa America in Chile.
Fred played in Brazil's first two matches before being dropped against Venezuela in the third group stage match and is now facing the possibility of a suspension.
Fred reportedly tested positive for traces of hydrochlorothiazide, a prohibited substance. This diuretic can be used to hide other chemicals so a second test will be performed on Tuesday.
Should Fred test positive in that second test, he faces a lengthy ban from football, something Shakhtar Donetsk won't be pleased with. The Ukrainian outfit starts its Champions League journey Tuesday against Turkish team Fenerbahce.
