Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal was in tears as he limped off the San Siro pitch Saturday when he was forced to leave the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid with an apparent injury.

Manager Zinedine Zidane opted to replace the Spain international with Danilo at right back.

Real Madrid did not immediately disclose the extent of his injury.

Carvajal will likely undergo tests to determine the severity of the unspecified injury, with hopes of avoiding an extended stint on the sidelines ahead of his international duties at the European Championship with the Spanish national team next month.
