Cristiano Ronaldo at '80 percent' fitness, mother says
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo may have missed his side's Champions League clash against Manchester City with a thigh injury, but he won't be sidelined for very much longer, according to his mother.
Speaking to reporters at the launch of her new biography, Dolores Aveiro revealed her son isn't dealing with a long-term injury and should be back for the reverse leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"He is fine, he is not at 100 percent, but he is at 80 percent," Aveiro said, according to ESPN FC. "I think that he will be back next week."
Ronaldo reportedly suffered a muscle tear in his thigh and will undergo a round of stem cell treatment to aid in his recovery. The Portuguese international assuaged fears of a long-term injury, too, saying he would have played against Manchester City in the first leg had that match been a final.
Aveiro doesn't expect to see the 31-year-old rested for much longer.
"Ronaldo is a person who always wants more," Aveiro said. "He is like his mother. He has a strong personality, he is very proud and he always demands more. This is his worst defect."
