1st-place Tiger-Cats thrash last-place Roughriders
Hamilton snapped a two-game losing streak and handed Saskatchewan a two-game slide of its own as the Tiger-Cats defeated the Roughriders 30-15 at Tim Hortons Field on Friday night.
While Saskatchewan's defense kept the Riders in the game for a quarter, the Ticats went into halftime leading 20-0 and never looked back as they coasted to victory in the second half.
Hamilton quarterback Jeff Mathews finished the night 22-for-33 with 385 yards and three touchdowns. Ticats running back Matt Ford had 54 yards on the ground, and Terrell Sinkfield Jr. and Tiquan Underwood each caught a touchdown and combined to haul in 271 yards.
For the Riders, Brett Smith replaced Kevin Glenn at quarterback mid-game and finished 11-for-19 with 243 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
With the win, East-leading Hamilton improves to 9-5, while Saskatchewan, last in the West, drops to an astounding 2-13.
