Eskimos edge Alouettes on last-second field goal
The best in the West took care of the least in the East.
Grant Shaw's 28-yard field goal as time expired gave the Edmonton Eskimos a 15-12 win over the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday night at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. The win moved the Esks to 5-2, giving them a half-game lead over the Calgary Stampeders in the West Division.
The Stamps are at home Saturday against the Ottawa RedBlacks.
For the Alouettes, it was their third straight loss. They sit deep in the East's basement at 2-5.
Montreal led the game 12-0 in the second quarter, but was shut out from there.
Shaw's game-winner came after the kicker had missed three field goals earlier in the contest. Matt Nichols was 15-of-24 for 130 yards and two interceptions for Edmonton before being replaced by James Franklin, who went 8-of-12 for 122 yards. Receiver Derel Walker caught 10 passes for 125 yards.
