The Edmonton Eskimos ended the Ottawa RedBlacks' two-game winning streak Thursday night with a decisive 46-17 win at Commonwealth Stadium.

Matt Nichols registered three touchdowns and 212 passing yards on 12 completions in his first win as a replacement for injured starter Mike Reilly. His one stumble was an interception on a poorly-timed pitch that landed in the hands of RedBlacks defensive lineman Zack Evans. The play-caller's primary target was Adarius Bowman, who collected 120 yards and a touchdown on five receptions.

An injury to Chad Simpson forced Kendial Lawrence to take over running back duties for the Eskimos. He ran for 79 yards on 12 touches, including one impressive 32-yard gain, and brought in one score.

The Eskimos defense was back to form following a hiccup against the Toronto Argonauts in the season opener. Defensive back Aaron Grymes was monstrous, with six tackles, while J.C. Sherritt registered two special teams tackles. The team mitigated quarterback Henry Burris, who had 162 yards on 20 completions, but couldn't convert in the end zone.

The two teams will meet in Ottawa next Friday at 7 p.m. ET to wrap up the home-and-home series.
