Manziel says 'anything is better than last week' after 2nd start
There was nowhere for Johnny Manziel to go but up.
After a disastrous, four-interception CFL debut last week for the Montreal Alouettes, Manziel was better in his second start. He went 16-for-26 for 168 yards and didn't commit a turnover in a 24-17 loss to the Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday night.
"I mean, we didn't turn the ball over, we didn't throw four picks in the first half. Anything is better than last week," he said, per ESPN.
No, but he nearly lost a fumble at the goalline while trying to scramble for a touchdown.
"Ran into a brick wall," Manziel said of the jarring hit that resulted in a welt on his chin, according to Jace Evans of USA Today.
"That defense was fast, that defense was big and aggressive. They hit hard, they're quick. But like I told these guys, you're not going to take me out like that."
Manziel is still searching for his first CFL touchdown pass or run. His next opportunity will come on the road against the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday.
