With his first career start for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Thursday night, Chris Streveler joined some exclusive company.
Streveler became the first rookie quarterback directly out of college to start a Week 1 game in the CFL since Anthony Calvillo did so for the Las Vegas Posse in 1994, according to TSN.
The 23-year-old started against the Edmonton Eskimos in place of injured quarterback Matt Nichols, who was ruled out for four-to-six weeks after sustaining an apparent knee injury in practice last week.
Streveler joined the Blue Bombers out of the University of South Dakota.
