The Edmonton Eskimos bolstered their backfield Monday, striking a deal with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to acquire the services of running back C.J. Gable in exchange for two players from the Eskimos' negotiation list, the team announced.
Gable joins the Eskimos after four-plus years with the Tiger-Cats, during which he was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie in 2013 and garnered East Division All-Star honors in 2013 and 2016.
Through nine games this season, Gable's recorded 466 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 74 carries. The 29-year-old has averaged 5.8 yards per carry through 51 career games and can pose as a dual threat out of the backfield, having also hauled in 25 catches for 186 yards this year.
