Vince Young permitted to play in Canada during DWI probation
A Texas judge is allowing Vince Young to play football in Canada while he remains on probation for DWI in the state, Ryan Autullo of the Austin American-Statesman reports.
Young pleaded no contest to the charge in January following a 2016 arrest and was sentenced to 18 months probation.
The soon-to-be 34-year-old is hoping to earn the starting quarterback job with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and began participating in minicamp in April.
Saskatchewan also has veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn on the roster, so there are no guarantees the former University of Texas pivot will be behind center for Week 1.
Young last played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 before failed attempts to make the rosters of the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns put an end to his NFL career.
The county judge approved his request to relocate to Canada and wished him well Wednesday.
