Wife of former Lions receiver Geroy Simon dies
Tracy Lasorsa-Simon, the wife of former BC Lions legendary receiver Geroy Simon, has died, the team announced Sunday night with a statement from VP of football operations, GM, and head coach Wally Buono.
It is with deep and profound sadness the BC Lions Football Club today reports the passing of Tracy Lasorsa-Simon, wife of Geroy Simon, the club's director of Canadian scouting.
We are devastated at the news of Tracy's passing and we ask that you keep the entire Simon family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Tracy has been part of the BC Lions family for more than a decade and her loss is heart-breaking for all of us.
The Simon family has requested privacy at this time.
CFL commissioner Jeffrey Orridge also issued a statement offering condolences and sympathy for Simon and his family.
"The entire CFL community is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Tracy Lasorsa-Simon, wife of our friend and colleague Geroy Simon," Orridge said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and everyone with love in their hearts for Tracy and Geroy, including the BC Lions and their players and coaches."
Lasorsa-Simon leaves behind Simon and two children. The cause of death was not released.
Simon, who serves as the team's director of Canadian scouting, played 12 of his 15 CFL seasons with the Lions and was a three-time Grey Cup champion (twice with BC).
