Report: Argonauts to hire Corey Chamblin as defensive coordinator
The Toronto Argonauts have added another big name to the coaching staff, as Sportsnet's Arash Madani is reporting that the club will hire former Saskatchewan Roughriders frontman Corey Chamblin as defensive coordinator.
The two sides are in the final stages of securing a contract, reports Madani, and an official announcement will be made in the coming days.
The move to hire Chamblin comes after the Argonauts introduced Jim Popp as general manager and Marc Trestman as head coach last week.
Chamblin posted a 29-34 mark in his four seasons as head coach of the Roughriders, including a Grey Cup victory in 2013. He was fired nine games into the 2015 campaign after posting an 0-9 record to start the season.
The 39-year-old certainly has his work cut out for him with the Argos - the club finished last in the CFL in 2016, allowing a whopping 568 total points.
