Argonauts look to bounce back against Lions in Ricky Ray's return
The Toronto Argonauts look to get back on track at home against the BC Lions, and they'll have quarterback Ricky Ray back in the lineup.
The Argonauts went 1-2 in Ray's absence, who was sidelined with a sprained MCL, and hope his return will rejuvenate a Toronto offence that has floundered recently. Backup quarterback Logan Kilgore struggled in his three games at the helm, tossing nine interceptions, while only throwing two touchdowns. Prior to his injury, Ray threw for 1235 yards, nine touchdowns, and completed over 73 percent of his attempts.
While Toronto continues to struggle at home, the Lions have been doing their damage on the road, posting a 4-1 record. Wally Buono used both Jonathon Jennings and Travis Lulay at quarterback last week in a win over Ottawa. Jennings had a rough game against the RedBlacks pass rush, being sacked six times. Anthony Allen took over the starting running back role, carrying the ball 13 times for 76 yards.
Ray will have to keep an eye on Lions defensive end Alex Bazzie, who's made life difficult for opposing quarterbacks. Bazzie is now the league leader in sacks after picking up two more against Ottawa for a total of eight on the year.
Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at BMO Field, and once again, fans with a ticket to the game will receive free admittance into the Canadian National Exhibition.
